The Diseases We Target

Scientifically referenced as Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum. This particular soil pathogen is catastrophic for watermelon crops. There is currently no available treatment option for this pathogen. Meaning the only method of mitigation is detection and grafted cultivars. Even with grafted plants there are races of Fusarium Wilt that still reduce yields, stunt plant, growth, and cause collapse of the crop.

Charcoal Rot in strawberry fields is caused by Macrophomina phaseolina. This fungal infection thrives in the sub-tropical climates with sandy soils and high temperatures. Some specific cultivars of strawberries are more susceptible than others. There are chemical remediation methods that can reduce the impact of this disease.

Phytophthora is a broad genus of soil-borne pathogens that affect crops world-wide. These species are fungal-like oomycetes which can easily spread from contamination plants/fruit and water sources. Specific species of Pytopthora impact curcubits such as watermelons and squash, tomatos, peppers, and even tobacco crops. For these reasons Bio-Mine is specifically targeting Pytophthora capsici and Pytophthora nicotianae.
